re your comment in quotes: "This discussion is amazing to read and it appears the non of you made the top 10 either, due to the apparent lack of constructive thinking. Dogs, cats, squirrels? They are all part of the universe and we assume our dominion over them with no consideration for the RESPONSIBILITY to see they are taken care of and not abused. In fact human beings have not even taken the RESPONSIBILITY to take care of themselves and their families in a way that deserves respect from any other species."
I still haven't left work and I haven't read the comments from the top. But I spotted yours and I just loved it. There are times I have felt like a lone human crying in the wilderness for the excesses of my species. That is why I refer to myself as a reverse specist. Don't get me wrong, I have my faults and things I need to deal with too. But as a species we are really quite deplorable in many ways. We brag about this "intelligence" and yet do not use it to it's potential for good. We are selfish, spiteful children wielding weapons of mass destruction. In many ways we are like "Q" on the old Star Trek series. Star Trek was very low tech and even campy (even at the time), but it was very forward thinking about societal issues. And still, as a species, forty years later we haven't gotten it yet. We are very dangerous as a species, very dangerous.
Peace,
Marci
